Understanding your style
when booking a photographer or videographer for your wedding
It never fails, a couple will pick a photographer/videographer based on the imagery viewed and tell themselves.
“These images are amazing, we’ve got to book them.”
Or...
“I want these exact images for our wedding.”
Without even realizing, their sense of style doesn’t truly mesh with the that of the artist. Couples may see an image and appreciate the beauty in the image but not understand their styles don’t coincide.
Each photographer/videographer has their strong suits, as do the couples. The only problem is, in a saturated market, photographers/videographers don’t want to turn away business that has the potential to not meet expectations.
.
Here is an example...
An Asian style buffet has a plethora of cuisines catered to their specific skill. Then, off in the distance, there’s a mixture of American, Latin, Cajun, etc... We’re not saying that the additional food isn’t good, we’re simply stating your taste should match the expertise.
The same goes for photography/videography, your taste should match the skill of the artist.
SO WHAT IF WE DON’T KNOW OUR STYLE?
That’s not a problem, we’ll help you figure it out.
Let’s say a movie is being picked out to watch. The man is an action kind of guy and the lady is a Rom-Com(Romance-Comedy)kind of gal. You’re not going to compromise and settle on the Notebook or True Lies. You two may lean toward settling on Date Night, This Means War or Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Finding out a mixture of your interests will help the movie become more interesting and enjoyable.
The same goes for picking out a style for your wedding.
Blend in your hobbies, interests, likes, looks and so on to figure out what type of imagery you want for your wedding.
