Part 3 of UNDERSTANDING YOUR STYLE

Finally, we’ve hit a milestone. After determining the style of your choice, it is time to determine what your photographer/videographer can do for you. We are going to share some images with you that a special client requested us to do. This is a unique style of imagery that represented her feelings following her divorce. She explained to us what she was trying to portray in her imagery and we built out a plan to execute her perfect divorce shoot.

Yes, we know…

Why are we offering up imagery regarding divorces when this blog is about weddings?

She reached out to us regarding a divorce shoot, we had never shot one before but we wanted to talk with her and find out everything she needed and expected. We explained to her our style and what alternative styles we can offer up to deliver a desired look. After a few consultations, the client felt as if we could deliver her desired imagery.

Her style

consisted of a mixture of imagery. She wanted to portray a hurt woman scorned from her divorce, while showing her ability to move on. She wanted a rustic style outdoor theme with warmer tones while being in her wedding dress.

Showing her ability to use props in explaining her emotions really told a story in these images.

She then emphasized when changing out of her wedding dress and into her black corset, she wanted a more moody, cooler image. she wanted some shade in her image and a forest style atmosphere.

She also set out to have specific types of images shot. She informed of us some images that she wanted and a bird’s eye view was one of those images.

Which leads us to our point of this final blog in understanding your style.

Let’s say, you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding. You and your fiancé have decided on an outdoor wedding with pastel or neutral colors and want a bright and airy feel. You both come across this amazing photographer whose imagery is breathtaking but it’s not exactly the style you were thinking, what do you do?

This is where you want to reach out to the photographer and emphasize a consultation. Whether it’s in person, via video chat or a phone call. You’re going to want to pick the photographer’s brain and stress the importance of your style. There’s only 2 answers you can accept, YES or NO. If the the photographer is unsure, that doesn’t necessarily mean no, but it’s not a yes. If the photographer says yes, but doesn’t have the imagery to back up the claim, how can you be certain the photographer can provide you with what you want?
